The Saatva Classic mattress is one of our favorite online mattresses.

We love their eco-friendly materials, high-quality construction, made-in-America focus and the luxury sleeping experience we get with their products. The affordable price tag is also a big plus.

Saatva has applied these same principles to their new Saatva Lofton Organic Sheets.

These Sateen sheets are also eco-friendly, designed to last for years and provide a great sleeping experience. And as luxury organic sheets go, they are surprisingly affordable.

So if you love your Saatva mattress and would like to pair it with great sheets – or if you are just looking for affordable luxury Sateen sheets – then I recommend buying a Lofton Organic Sheet Set.

Each set includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillowcases (one pillowcase for twin and twin XL sheets).

What Makes Saatva Lofton Organic Sheets Unique?

Saatva sheets

Luxury Sateen Weave

I love Sateen sheets. They have a signature soft buttery feel that you don’t get with any other kinds of sheets (other than linen or silk, which are out of my price range).

If you also prefer that silky luxury texture, you will love the Lofton sheets.

The texture comes from how the fibers are weaved together, resulting in a denser and heavier fabric. It does trap more heat than the more common Percale sheets, but it’s nothing you can’t solve with an open window or a cooling pad.

Sateen sheets also have a beautiful smooth finish that looks great on the bed.

They do not wrinkle as much as Percale or linen sheets, either.

Certified Organic

Cheap synthetic sheets are good for your pocket but are usually not worth it. The fabric feels rough, and the chemicals irritate your skin. There’s also the chemical smell that assaults your senses.

Saatva Lofton sheets are certified organic. The certification comes from GOTS, a global standard for organic textiles.

A GOTS certification means that the sheets have been tracked right from harvesting to manufacturing to packaging and labelling to ensure no harmful chemicals are used.

Fair Trade

Saatva does not just care about the environment and your health; they also consider the workers who make their products.

That’s why they are committed to fair trade policies and a transparent supply chain.

The Lofton sheets are made in a Fair Trade factory where the workers are well compensated.

The fair trade certification also means that no harmful chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides and GMOs are used during the growing or production process.

Sleeping Experience

Lofton organic sheets

If you are used to sleeping on department store sheets, you’d have to experience the Lofton sheets yourself to understand why they cost more.

We tested a grey set on our King sized guest bedroom and I'm here to say: Saatva's Sateen weave makes a huge difference in how the sheets feel.

They are soft, silky and gentle on your skin. These sheets really do feel like a 5-star hotel experience.

We learned over a couple of months that the Loften sheets get even softer with every wash. If you think they are soft on the first night, wait until you wash them.

The only issue with the Lofton sheets and this is common with all Sateen weave sheets, is that the heavier texture tends to trap more heat compared to Percale sheets.

If you live in a hot area or you experience frequent night sweats, I’d recommend Percale sheets from Parachute or Brooklinen. They are more breathable and sleep cooler.

That, and they do shrink quite a bit on first wash – but they come oversized so we had no issues fitting them over our 12″ mattress.

But if you want Saatva’s sheets, you can use them with a cooling pad, lower the thermostat or crack open a window on warm nights.

The Fabric

Organic Saatva Sheets

As I’ve already mentioned, Saatva uses a Sateen weave to make their Lofton sheets.

Individual threads are made from organic long-staple cotton.

Staple refers to the length of individual fibers – Long staples result in a softer, silkier and more durable fabric.

Lofton's thread count is 300. This is a great balance between luxury softness and breathability. So even though the sheets can get a bit warm during the summer like many other high-quality Sateen sheets, cooling is fine through most of the year.

Each thread consists of just one fibre (single ply), which enhances the softness and breathability of the sheet.

Saatva currently doesn’t sell Percale sheets or any other kind of weave. But they just launched the Saatva Dreams brand so they may add more options in the future.
