eLuxury Mattress Pads Review
Construction
The construction of eLuxury mattress pads is very similar. The main difference is in the cover and the amount of filling used in each pad.
All six mattress pads contain Revoloft polyester filling. eLuxury calls it Cluster fiberfill. The fibres are designed to trap more air, which allows the mattress to retain its loft and plushness when you sleep on it.
The only pad with a slightly different fill material is the eLuxury copper-infused mattress. The fibres contain copper to help with temperature and odour control.
Another feature all the mattress pads share is the baffle box stitching that prevents the filling from shifting. The pads don't bunch up in some places.
Each eLuxury mattress pad also comes with a deep skirt that can fit mattresses up to 18″ thick. This secures the pad to the mattress.
As for the covers, three of the eLuxury pads have a bamboo rayon cover. These include the bamboo mattress pad, the extra-thick bamboo mattress pad and the 2-piece pad and topper.
The covers are not 100% bamboo rayon. They contain 70% polyester and 30% bamboo rayon. But even the little amount of bamboo used is enough to significantly improve breathability, moisture-wicking and cooling.
The other three mattress pads have a 100% polyester cover.
Firmness
All eLuxury mattress pads have roughly the same comfortable feel. They feel soft and plush, which makes them ideal for softening firm mattresses.
The level of plushness varies depending on the amount of fill in the pad. The extra-thick bamboo pad and the extra plush and extra-thick pad have a deeper hug compared to the other eLuxury pads. They are great for extra-firm mattresses.
The 2-piece bamboo pad and memory foam topper feel quite different from the other eLuxury pads. It is soft but also supportive. If you want a pressure-reliving mattress pad that also offers some support, we recommend the eLuxury 2-piece pad and topper.
Comfort & Sleeping Experience
Overall sleeping experience:
Any of the eLuxury mattress pads will make a big difference in how your current mattress feels. The pads improve pressure relief, especially on vulnerable areas like your shoulders, hips and lower back.
Because most of them have a low profile, you'll still enjoy adequate support from your mattress.
As we mentioned, the eLuxury pads are ideal only for a firm and extra-firm mattresses. If you don't add support to a too-soft mattress, you'll have better luck with a thicker and firmer mattress topper.
Cooling:
Fiberfill mattress pads are not the best choice for cooling. The alternative down filling traps heat, causing you to heat up.
eLuxury solves this problem using a breathable cover and, in one case, special copper-infused fibre.
The three bamboo pad has the most breathable covers. Bamboo rayon fabric stays cool and does a great job absorbing sweat.
The copper-infused mattress pad also has a good cooling performance. Copper in the fibre conducts heat away from your body.
Motion control:
eLuxury mattress pads have virtually zero motion transfer. This means you won't feel your partner's movements while you sleep.
However, if you are looking to reduce motion transfer on your hybrid or innerspring mattress, most eLuxury pads won't be helpful.
Because the mattress pads are thin (unlike a foam topper), they don't absorb all disturbances. If your partner turns and tosses a lot, you may still feel their movements, especially if they have a large body.
The only eLuxury mattress pad we recommend for motion control is the 2-piece bamboo mattress pad and topper.
The fiberfill pillowtop and the 1.5″ memory foam base absorb most of the motion coming from your partner's side of the bed.
Responsiveness:
Fiberfill is less responsive (bouncy) than even memory foam, which is known for its lack of bounciness. If you want a mattress pad that adds some bounciness to your bed, none of the eLuxury mattress pads will do.
If anything, eLuxury mattress pads are more ideal for reducing bounciness on a spring mattress.
Returns and Warranty
eLuxury offers a 30-day return period for all their mattress pads. If you decide to keep the mattress pad, the warranty lasts for a year.
Care and Cleaning
eLuxury mattress pads are machine washable. Because of their bulkiness, you'll need a high-capacity washing machine.
eLuxury recommends using a washer without a centre agitator.
Wash the mattress pad on a gentle setting with cold water and no bleach. Use gentle detergents. For drying, air-drying is the safest option to prevent damage to the cover and fiberfill. If you must use a dryer, tumble dry on low and remove the mattress pad as soon as it is dry.
Note: For the 2-piece bamboo mattress pad and topper, only the top bamboo pad is machine washable. Do not clean the memory foam base.
