About Noomi

Noomi Mattress

Noomi launched in 2014 with the aim of making good quality, long lasting and affordable mattresses. They tested hundreds of prototypes and collected a lot of customer feedback to create the final product. The engineers focused, particularly on temperature control.

As a result, the Noomi mattress goes farther than most other mattresses in ensuring that there’s no buildup of heat in the mattress.

Social Impact

Noomi Mattress

This provides quality local jobs and ensures that the mattress is safe for users and the environment.

Purchase Process

Noomi Mattress

The mattress is only available on Noomi’s official website. Go to the main mattress shop page to start the ordering process.

There are two versions of the Noomi mattress with the only difference being the cooling technology used.

The standard version uses open-cell foam with embedded gel beads. The pricier version (around $500 more expensive) uses a special polymer material that maintains the room’s ambient temperature and feels cool to the touch.

If you are very heat-sensitive or you live in a warm climate, I recommend the cooling version.

From there, pick your preferred mattress size and checkout. You can pay via credit card or check if you qualify for Affirm financing where you pay in easy monthly installments.

Each mattress comes with two free pillows.

The mattress will arrive at your home in about eight business days. Shipping is free.

You have 365 days to decide whether to keep the mattress. Returns are free.

If you decide to keep it, it will be covered by a forever warranty.

365-Night Trial

Noomi Mattress

Noomi comes with a lengthy 365-night trial period.

The yearlong trial period thing has become more common among online mattress companies. Nectar and DreamCloud also offers a 1-year trial period.

Noomi does not charge for returns.  If at any time during the trial period you decide the mattress is not for you, just call them up, and they’ll arrange a pickup and give you a full refund. Returned mattresses are recycled or donated to a local charity.

The only requirement is that you sleep on the mattress for at least three months to give your body time to acclimatize to it. After that, feel free to return it if it still feels uncomfortable.

Lifetime Warranty

Noomi Mattress

Lifetime warranties have also become more commonplace. Nectar and Nest Bedding both cover their mattresses for a lifetime.

Noomi’s lifetime warranty is non-prorated meaning they will cover all repair or replacement costs.

Delivery and Setup

Noomi Mattress

There is no white glove delivery. The mattress will be delivered to your door, and then it’s up to you to take it inside and set it up. Set up is easy and should take no more than 10 minutes.

The mattress arrives compressed into a box. To set it up, unbox the rolled up mattress and place it on the foundation. Cut away the plastic wrap. The mattress will start puffing back up to its normal shape and size. You can sleep on it immediately.

Foundation & Frame

What type of bed frame/support does Noomi require?

Any stable and sturdy frame will do.

You can use it on a metal frame, Murphy bed, slatted bed or even directly on the floor. If you use a box spring make sure it is in good condition. It’s also a good idea to add a 1”-3” board to the top of the box spring to create a flat and sturdy surface.

Does Noomi work on an adjustable bed?

Yes, it does.

Care and Cleaning

Is a mattress protector needed for Noomi?

It’s not necessary, but it’s highly recommended. Look for a waterproof, hypoallergenic and breathable mattress protector.

Do you need to rotate the Noomi mattress?

If you sleep alone or you have a significant weight difference with your partner, it’s a good idea to rotate the Noomi mattress every three months or so. This evens out the wearing and lengthens the life of the mattress.

Aesthetics and Styling

Noomi Mattress

The Noomi mattress has very simple styling; white on top and gray on the sides.

At just 10 inches, the mattress does not exactly make a big statement in your bedroom. If you are going for the thick luxury look, this is not it. But it doesn’t matter much as long as the mattress is comfortable.

↑ Table of Contents

Construction

The Noomi mattress has three foam layers plus a cotton cover.

Noomi Mattress

2” comfort and cooling layer

This layer consists of open-cell foam that allows free airflow in and out of the mattress to keep the mattress cool and fresh. Gel beads embedded into the mattress enhance heat dissipation, ensuring your mattress will never get hot.

2” contouring memory foam

This layer provides contouring and pressure relief. It molds to your body, ensuring you don’t experience any pressure points.

6” support foam

A base layer of high-density polyfoam provides overall support and keeps the mattress in shape for years.

Note: The pricier cool mattress has an extra polymer material. But the company doesn’t divulge whether the polymer is integrated into the cover or in the foam layers. It’s most likely located at the top to make sure the mattress feels cool to the touch.

Mattress Cover

The cover is made from cotton. So it feels soft, and it’s great at dissipating excess body heat and moisture.

Smell/Off-gassing

This is a foam mattress, so a bit of smell is inevitable especially considering that it is tightly rolled up in a box. It takes a few hours to fully off-gas when you unbox it.

The smell is harmless and mild. If it affects you, leave the mattress uncovered for a day or two until the smell dissipates completely.

Sleeping Experience

Noomi Mattress

The Noomi mattress feels soft and squishy. It’s the kind of mattress where you sleep ‘in’ it rather than ‘on’ it.

The firm base layer helps balance out some of that softness, so you don’t sink in too much. Instead, you experience a comfortable plush yet supportive feeling. It will hold up your back while also hugging your hips and shoulders to prevent painful pressure points.

Edge support is not so good; it may feel a bit uncomfortable for couples who sleep near the edges.

Because it’s thinner than most mattresses and has no latex foam or innerspring, I wouldn’t recommend Noomi to heavier sleepers. You’ll sink in too much and not get the amount of support you need. Consider alternatives like Loom & Leaf, Casper Wave or the Big Fig mattress.

↑ Table of Contents

Firmness

Noomi is a medium firm mattress. The softer upper layers balance out with the high-density foam to provide a nice balance between plush and firm.

It’s great for all types of sleepers including side, back, stomach and combination sleepers. Because of its squishier feel that provides excellent pressure relief, it’s also great for people who turn a lot at night. Several customers report turning a lot of less during sleep and enjoying more restful nights.

↑ Table of Contents

Sinkage

This is a memory foam mattress, so sinkage is higher than average. But it’s not too much that it compromises support.

The only area where the sinkage is a bit too much is along the edges. For couples buying this mattress, I recommend the largest King or Cal King sizes. It’ll ensure you both sleep comfortably away from the edges where you’ll enjoy maximum support.

↑ Table of Contents

Motion Transfer

Foam has excellent motion control. Being an all-foam mattress, Noomi has very little motion transfer. No matter how much your fidgety partner turns at night or keeps waking up, you’ll sleep on comfortably.

↑ Table of Contents

Hot/Cold Issues

Temperature control is one of the areas where Noomi excels at. The combination of breathable cotton and gel open cell foam ensures you sleep cool every night.

But it’s not so efficient at cooling that it leaves you feeling cold. It retains just enough heat to keep your feet warm.
