Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress Review
Summary
The Tuft & Needle Mint mattress is a luxury upgrade from the T&N original mattress. It offers a more luxurious feel, better cooling, and enhanced support and pressure relief.
Great choice for: Anyone looking for a good deal on a luxury foam mattress.
Avoid if: You prefer extra bounciness of innerspring or hybrid mattresses.
The Tuft & Needle is a luxury mattress that doesn't break the bank.
For less than $1,000 (Queen size), it offers adaptive pressure relief, deep support and graphite, and gel cooling.
The Mint is one of two mattresses Tuft & Needle sells. The original Tuft & Needle foam mattress became (and still is) very popular for its low price and great sleeping experience.
With the Mint mattress, the company has retained the same great mix of quality and affordability. If you are looking for a luxury foam mattress, we highly recommend the Tuft & Needle Mint mattress.

About Tuft & Needle
Tuft & Needle was one of the earliest companies to enter the bed-in-a-box market. Daehee Park and John-Thomas Marino founded the company in 2012 and reached a revenue of $1 million in just their first year of business.
Since then, the company's revenues have grown to over $100 million, mostly fueled by their ultra-affordable but high-quality foam mattress.
In 2018, Park and Marino agreed to sell Tuft & Needle to Serta Simmons though it remains an independent brand.
Social Impact
Since launch, Tuft & Needle has been engaged in several social and charity programs. These include school fundraisers, mattress donations, and employee volunteering.

On top of that, they manufacture their products responsibly. Their certifications include CertiPUR-US, GREENGUARD Gold, Intertek's Clean Air Certification, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, and others.
Purchase Process
It's very easy to buy a T&N Mint mattress. No store visits or haggling with sales reps, thankfully.
Just go to the official Tuft & Needle website (it hasn't changed even after the Serta Simmons sale) and select the Mint mattress.
T&N sells only one Mint mattress – there are no comfort options. So you just need to select your preferred size and add it to cart.
All traditional sizes from Twin to Cal King are available.
At checkout, you can pay with your credit/debit card or check if you qualify for Affirm financing.
Finish your order and wait for the mattress to arrive in 1-5 business days or the same day in some zip codes. See further below for shipping and delivery details.
Price
The T&N Mint is more expensive than the original mattress. But compared to another luxury mattress, it's a great bargain.
Here's the current price list. Visit Tuft & Needle's website for the latest prices and offers. Remember you can opt for easy monthly payments instead of a lump sum. You can check whether you qualify during checkout. The check is instant and does not affect your credit score. Similar to most other online mattresses, Tuft & Needle offers a 100-night trial period to test your new Mint mattress at home. If you don't like it, you can return it within that period at no cost. Tuft & Needle donate returned mattresses to charity or recycles them depending on location. Note that the 100-night Trial and free returns apply if you buy directly from Tuft & Needle's website. Terms may vary if you buy the mattress from Amazon or another retailer, even if it is an authorized T&N distributor. Your new Mint mattress will be protected by a 10-year warranty, which is pretty standard for foam mattresses. The Warranty covers manufacturing defects such as a torn cover or a crack in the foam and indentations deeper than ¾ of an inch. The Warranty is non-prorated, meaning it covers your purchase in full from the first year to the tenth year. Shipping terms are also standard: free across the contiguous United States with extra charges for Hawaii and Alaska. Depending on your location, the mattress will ship in 1-5 business days. In certain zip codes, Tuft & Needle provides same-day shipping at $50 a mattress. Here's a quick set up video if you opt to go the DIY route. The Tuft & Needle Mint mattress arrives compressed in a box the height of your refrigerator. If you opted for standard shipping, you'd have to carry the mattress inside yourself. Though the compact box will appear easy to get inside the house, it's quite heavy, especially if you bought a Queen, King or Cal King. We recommend having a friend or family member nearby to help. If you don't want to do any lifting, opt for white glove delivery during checkout. It costs $150 and is available only in the contiguous US. This service includes in-home mattress set up and old mattress removal. The mattress takes some time to puff up to its normal size. So give it time after you've unboxed it before sleeping on it. This will also allow off-gassing to get rid of most of the initial foam smell. Any kind of bed frame will do including a box spring, slatted frame, or solid foundation. The T&N Warranty does not have any specific foundation requirements; it just requires that it be sturdy and capable of holding the weight of the mattress and the sleeper(s). Yes, it does. Tuft & Needle does not require one in their warranty or return policy. But we highly recommend getting a mattress protector for your new Mint mattress especially since the cover is not removable and washable. It will prevent the mattress from staining. It's also a great way to keep out mold, mildew, and allergens like dust and pet hair. If you and your partner have a significant weight difference, it's a good idea to rotate the mattress every few months to prevent uneven wearing. But do not flip the mattress – this is a single-sided mattress. The T&N Mint mattress comes wrapped in a beautiful charcoal gray cover. It blends in well with any décor. That is if you tend to leave your mattress uncovered. The Tuft & Needle Mint mattress has one more layer than the original two-layered T&N mattress. It's also two inches thicker. This improves support, especially for heavier sleepers and couples, and allows the mattress to offer a plusher sleeping experience while preventing bottoming out. The two comfort layers are made using T&N Adaptive® foam, a proprietary type of polyfoam made by Tuft & Needle. They contain cooling gel beads and graphite to ensure the foam doesn't retain heat. The top 3″ layer is relatively soft, providing instant pressure relief and contouring. It's open-cell foam, which dissipates heat faster and more efficiently than standard foam. The middle transition layer is 2″ thick and is denser than the top layer. It helps distribute weight evenly and keeps you from bottoming out. The base is a high-density 7″ layer of polyfoam. It provides compression support and ensures the mattress lasts a long time. The Mint mattress has a plush knit fabric cover that consists of a blend of polyester and polyamide. It feels soft to the touch and is breathable. Note that the cover is not removable. Being a foam mattress, expect some off-gassing when you first unbox the mattress. It's a mild ‘new foam' smell. It's harmless – no dangerous emissions or VOCs. It fades away in a few days. To get rid of it quicker, let the mattress air in a well-ventilated room for a day or two. The Tuft & Needle Mint is a luxury mattress but not quite at the level of most high-end luxury hybrid mattresses, some of which come complete with a plush pillow top. But compared to the T&N original and many other foam mattresses, it feels markedly plusher and more comfortable. The top layer has a nice hug; pleasantly deep but not too soft that you are in a swamp. The next two layers round out the top layer nicely, balancing it with support and some bounciness. Talking of bounciness, don't expect the same responsive feel as that of a hybrid or innerspring mattress. The Mint mattress is bouncier than a memory foam mattress but doesn't get close to a mattress with coils. For couples looking for a mattress that's great for sex, the Tuft & Needle is not our top recommendation (read our reviews of the best mattresses for sex). But it's better than most memory foam mattresses. Something else that's a bit lacking is edge support, which is a common issue with all-foam mattresses. But unless you sleep right on the edge of the mattress or often sit on the side of the mattress, this is not a big deal. Tuft& Needle is a medium-firm mattress. It's slightly softer than the T&N original mattress but a tad firmer than many memory foam mattresses. It's great for all types of sleepers. Sinkage is about as much as you'd expect from a foam mattress. It falls somewhere in the middle – enough for pressure relief but not too much to compromise support. Because of poor edge support, sinkage increases towards the edges. Foam mattresses are very good at absorbing motion, and the T&N Mint is no different. If you sleep with a fidgety partner – or you are the fidgety one – you'll both sleep soundly. Foam mattresses are not the best at cooling. But Tuft & Needle has done a great job with the Mint mattress. The use of open-cell foam and the infusion of graphite and gel beds keeps the mattress cool. It also helps that the mattress contains no memory foam, which is notorious for heat retention. You are looking for an affordable luxury foam mattress. If you are looking for a luxury mattress that won't break the bank, the Tuft & Needle Mint is a good deal.
