The Leesa mattress is one of the most popular all-foam online mattresses. Customers rate it highly for comfort, support and cooling (see our in-depth review).

But Leesa, one of the earliest online mattress companies, does more than make comfortable-and-affordable mattresses.

They also sell various sleep accessories. On of their most innovative products is the recently released Leesa Hybrid Pillow.

This is their second pillow.

The first one was made from Avena foam, the same type of foam they initially used in their mattress before changing to the current LSA200 foam.

It was a pretty standard pillow without any special features.

Their new pillow takes things to a whole new level.

It is a hybrid pillow, meaning it combines different materials. Interestingly, none of them are memory foam or latex, the two most common materials in most pillows nowadays.

One side of the pillow has quilted pockets filled with polyester microfiber filling. The other side is a ventilated gel layer for cooling. In the middle is a removable pillow insert also filled with polyester microfiber.

You can Adjust the Pillow

Adjusting the Leesa hybrid pillow

The new Leesa hybrid pillow is much more versatile than their first one and most other pillows out there. Specifically, there are 4 different configurations you can enjoy.

One way to adjust it is by reversing it.

The side with the quilted pockets is soft and fluffy. It’s perfect if you prefer a softer pillow with good pressure relief.

It also retains more heat, making it ideal for cold nights when you need the extra warmth.

But if you are heat-sensitive or you experience frequent hot flushes at night, reverse it to the cooler side. This is where the cooling gel is.

The gel draws heat away from the pillow to keep you cool.

The other two ways to configure it is by using the pillow insert. There’s a zip around the pillow which lets you remove the insert when you need the pillow to go lower or put it back in if you need it to be higher.

By the way, you can also use the pillow insert as a travel pillow or cuddle with it on the couch.

What Does it Feel Like?

It’s like a traditional down pillow but with more support because of the insert.

So if you are not a big fan of modern memory foam and latex foam pillows but feel that down pillows don't hold up your head properly, this might just be what you are looking for.

The quilted side feels plush and is great for side sleepers. It conforms easily around your head and neck.

And don’t worry; you won’t feel the quilting once the pillow is inside a pillow case.

The non-quilted side feels slightly firmer, making it ideal for stomach and back sleepers.

The entire pillow is covered with a Tencel and Nylon fabric. Tencel is a plant-based fiber that is known for its cooling and moisture-wicking qualities.

So even when you are sleeping on the quilted side, the pillow still feels cool and fresh.

How Do I Clean It?

It’s actually very easy to keep the Leesa hybrid pillow clean despite its fancy shmancy design.

You just need to remove the gel insert (which should only be spot cleaned) and then you can put the rest of the pillow including the insert into the washer. Wash on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low.

Is it Expensive?

Kinda.

A standard size goes for $125 and a queen size costs $135. But this is not your ordinary boring pillow so it’s easy to see why it costs more.

It will help you sleep cooler, more comfortably and without any pain or soreness in your neck or back.

But don’t worry if you don’t like it. The pillow comes with a 100-night in-home trial with free returns, similar to the Leesa mattress.

If you decide to keep it, the warranty is 3 years long.

Shipping is of course free for customers in the United States as it is with all Leesa products.
